Vintage pink knits

Isn't it amazing how the greenery, shy and barely visible just a month ago, is now spreading like a wildfire, engulfing, invading and claiming every bit of land/wall/old shopping cart in sight?! In a car between Leicester and Loughborough I'm struggling to spot a spot of ground on either side of the road. The earthy winter countryside is transformed into a fluid state - a wavy sea of viridian green with vortices of hot mustard yellow. Don't ask me why, but I'm convinced this vegetative explosion calls for a vintage pink knit top:)

But, alas, I have found so many, and they are all gorgeous... Maybe I should just get them all and pretend I'm eccentric?:D

The Gas Station Project

The first project of the International Fiber Collaborative was to provide an opportunity for people who enjoyed working with fiber arts, whether professional artists, hobbyists or students, to come together from all over the world to express their concern about the worlds extreme dependency on oil.

Participants crocheted, knitted, stitched, patched, or collaged 3 foot square fiber panels that expressed each participants concern about the topic. Simply by designing and creating these panels and participating in this project, they were expressing their concern about this important subject to all nations. All of the panels were then sewn together to completely cover an abandoned gas station in central New York State.

Oh I do wish Spring would just cure her hangover already, pull back the curtains and look at us with those pretty little leaves and flowers of hers. In return I propose to write poems and wear adornments in Her name!;)

Neck Lace

I have fallen in love with the idea of crocheted applications as jewellery. Such condensed richness of pattern! What precision of execution! So intricate, so delicate, so fragile. Feminine, but with a kinky edge. A cross between my great-grandma's crocheted collar mom would put on my Sunday dresses and... an arabesque tattoo.

Each one is so unique... I want them all!
