Dusted off and well presented

"Paper Whales"

sharp teeth heavy fins
black and white killers roaming the coral reefs
of bedside tables

oh predators of ocean shelves
how cumbersome you become
when you finally wash up
on the shore
of my left hand

enormous body defenceless
breathless
I slit you open and feast on your flesh

becoming
bloodbound
by the end

by a wild creature

  1. I really, really like this one. Thanks.

It reminds me of Salman Rushdie's "Is Nothing Sacred?" about literature, and books (as the physical manifestation of same) in his household growing up, and in society as a whole.
